Playwright
I live in Fredericton, New Brunswick. I started writing for theatre after taking a creative writing course. It became a passion, one I started to wonder if I'd keep to myself forever. But after a number of years, several workshops, a little luck, and a lot of help from friends, I landed my first professional production - Between Friends - which was staged at the Lighthouse Festival Theatre in the summer of 2008. It was directed by Ron Gabriel.
"Between Friends has audiences rolling in the aisles during the comedic parts and sitting spellbound and silent when the mood on stage turns a little more serious." - Port Dover Maple Leaf
My next play - Grounded - was premiered at Lighthouse in August 2009 under the direction of Chris McHarge.
"Last season Lighthouse was the launching pad of Spurway's first play Between Friends. With Grounded, he solidifies his position as a successful playwright in theatrical comedy." - Simcoe Reformer
And my newest two act play - Jessie's Landing - had its premiere run at Lighthouse Festival Theatre in Port Dover, Ontario this past summer. The director was Mark Schoenberg.
"Expect, if not a tear or two, at least a few goose bump moments." - Port Dover Maple Leaf Summer Living
